Welcome to Generational Support!

A site dedicated to those caring for the Boomer generation and younger.

My professional background in the aging industry.

For the past 15 years I have worked in the 55+ (aka retirement) industry. Through this time I have taken on many roles that allowed me to observe and experience supporting older adults. Having been around the many phases of the lifecycle, both personally (as a mom and daughter) and professionally, I understand the stress one feels when given the responsibility of caring for someone else.

Why have I created this blog?

Because, I understand that there are so many things to consider when taking on the caregiver role, whether it is for a family member or an acquaintance.

Having been part of the marketing and sales team of a CCRC (Continuing Care Retirement Community) I know first hand all of the boxes that need to be checked. I understand the legal, financial, and medical necessities, to start. Plus, there are many other facets of aging and being a caregiver that I wish to share.

Another reason for this blog is my desire to squash stereotypes! There are many stigmas of aging, and I feel a great desire to help correct those negative thoughts. Not to mention, I do not tire from researching this topic and learning more.

Specifically, what am I going to share?

Just to name a few topics and sponsored affiliates…

  • Housing options
  • Medical needs
  • Insurance needs
  • Health and Wellness
  • Legal needs
  • Service providers
  • Lifestyle (travel-Grand Canyon Tours, hobbies, new career paths, etc.)
  • And of course the New Orleans girl needs to add a little Lagniappe

So for now….

This list is just a few ideas, there is certainly so much to understand and think about.

I hope this first post peaks your interest and I look forward to guiding you all in your journey of generational support for the Boomers and beyond!

wine glass and wine to toast to aging
Cheers!

  1. Thank you, Courtney!!!If one is lucky enough to live to old age it’s a blessing. I sometimes feel as if the younger generation looks down on me because of my age. Little do they realize that I was once young and pretty, too!!

  2. Embrace it. Embrace living life. Embrace growing old and embrace all that you are so fortunate to have Search the soul and see what’s there you’ll be pretty happy
